If you suspect an overcrowding problem in your neighborhood, then you should contact our Community Development department at 592-6073
As Trustee, I will work to document cases of overcrowding and hold our Village government accountable to enforce the law in all reported cases. Test Our Limits on Overcrowding
At the Candidates' Forum on Feb 22, 2007, I said that we should be testing our legal limits. I have been told too many times all the things we cannot do to enforce overcrowding ordinances. We have to turn our thinking around. People who overcrowd houses in our village are testing our limits, and we should be returning the favor every day, every night, and every weekend.
It's been said to me that some overcrowding complaints have gone unaddressed due to a concern about the village being sued on account of the overcrowded residents being hispanic. I say that overcrowding is overcrowding, regardless of who is doing it. Failure to enforce the law due to race is racist. We should be prepared to enforce the law and defend ourselves for having done so.
