In Favor of Vehicle Stickers

On the listening tour, I've talked with dozens of folks about vehicle stickers.  I would say that most are in favor of having them.  I am in favor of them, and here's why:

  • Revenue.  Manager Neimann's presentation back in 2005 indicated that a modestly-priced ($25) vehicle sticker could generate $300k per year, after costs, for the village.  That's enough to pay at least two police officers.  Neimann's numbers also included breaks for seniors.
  • Enforcement.  Many have disagreed with me on this one, but I hold fast to it.
    • Junk cars could be ticketed
    • We could make life a little bit less convenient in our town for those who tend to be out of compliance, like gangs, drug dealers, illegal immigrants, and overcrowders.
